(Italiano) Prof.ssa Marina Bentivoglio

bentivoglio200MD, Board in Neurology, she is Professor of Histology at the Medical School of the University of Verona and Director of the Department of Neurological and Movement Sciences of the same University.
Chair (2010-2012) of the Doctoral School in Science Engineering Medicine, she is a faculty member of the PhD Program in Neuroscience. Secretary General of the “International Brain Research Organization” (IBRO; world federation of neuroscience societies and associations) from 2007 to 2010 and President of the Italian Society of Neuroscience (SINS) in 2008 and 2009, she is actively engaged in international cooperation initiatives for research in basic and clinical neuroscience and capacity building of young investigators, in particular in Invited lecturer in numerous Italian and foreign institutions, she has participated in several symposia and workshops in national and international conferences and numerous international training courses in the neurological sciences.
She is member of several national and international scientific societies and Academies. Her scientific production includes more than 180 articles in peer-reviewed journals and about 50 chapters in volumes, concerning the organization and regulation of neural circuits (with special reference to sleep and wake regulation), experimental investigations on interactions between the nervous system and the immune system in neuroinflammatory diseases (with special reference to the so-called “neglected tropical diseases” which afflict disadvantaged countries), in neurodegenerative diseases, in brain aging.
